Things are changing a lot within WWE and their vision of the business and the latest example of this change has been seen when the company has publicized and promoted the upcoming shows 104 and 105 of the independent company Evolve.
The story was written when the WWN and EVOLVE Tag Team Championships were defended in a WWE ring for the first time at WrestleMania Axxess in New Orleans. Now, we will see the consequences of that monumental weekend when EVOLVE Wrestling returns to action at EVOLVE 104 and 105 in Summit, Illinois, and Livonia, Michigan, on May 19 and 20, respectively. Tickets for both events are available here. EVOLVE returns to action after the historic battles for the title of WrestleMania Axxess
The Axxess title defenses set a new milestone for EVOLVE which has increased its relationship with WWE in recent years. EVOLVE has hosted NXT General Manager William Regal, Sami Zayn and NXT Champion Aleister Black at their past events and NXT coaches often appear as special guests at WWN seminars and competitions for wrestlers and referees.
Keith Lee, one of the most talked-about competitors on the independent circuit successfully defended the WWN Championship, the most important title of the WWN family of promotions which includes EVOLVE against Kassius Ohno on the first day of WrestleMania Axxess on April 5. The next day, Austin Theory who attended the most recent testing ground at the WWE Performance Center surprised Lee to win the WWN Championship in EVOLVE 103. The theory then followed with a successful first title defense at WrestleMania Axxess on April 8, defeating Marcel Barthel of NXT.
EVOLVE Tag Team champions Chris Dickinson and Jaka with their agent Stokely Hathaway also successfully defended their titles against the NXT Superstars in Axxess, beating Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch on April 7.
Theory, Dickinson, Jaka, and Lee are ready to return to action at EVOLVE 104 and 105. Theory will face two rising competitors over the weekend, including a title defense at Summit. Dickinson and Jaka, who are part of the stable of Catch Point, are scheduled to defend EVOLVE Tag Team titles against The End and Parrow of The End in an Anything Goes match in EVOLVE 104. It will be the conclusion of a rivalry that has been unleashed for months. If Dickinson and Jaka are successful, they will defend against James Drake and Anthony Henry in EVOLVE 105.
Meanwhile, Lee will attempt to recover from his title loss to Theory by facing Drake in EVOLVE 104 and challenging EVOLVE champion Matt Riddle in EVOLVE 105. NXT coach Robbie Brookside will also be invited to the seminar/test on May 20 in Livonia.
