The Japanese company New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) held on Saturday, August 12  the final date of its prestigious tournament, the G1 Climax 28. the show took place at Nippon Budokan, Tokyo.

The winner of the tournament will challenge Kenny Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in the biggest event of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 13, on January 4, 2019.

One on One Match:
Bad Luck Fale defeated Toa Henare via pinfall.

Tag Team Matches:

6-Man Tag Team Match:
Tomoaki Honma, Michael Elgin, and Togi Makabe defeated Ayato Yoshida vs. Shota Umino vs. Yuji Nagata via pinfall.

Tag Team Match
Taichi and Takashi Iizuka defeated YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto via pinfall.

Team Tag Match
Hangman Page and Cody defeated David Finlay and Juice Robinson via pinfall.

6-Man NEVER Openweight Tag Team Championship Match:
Taiji Ishimori, Tanga Loa, and Tama Tonga defeated Marty Scurll and Young Bucks (c) to win the 6-Man NEVER Openweight Tag Team Championship.

8-Man Tag Match Team: 
BUSHI, SANADA, EVIL and Tetsuya Naito defeated El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Zack Saber Jr. and Minoru Suzuki via Submission

6-Man Tag Team Match:
Jay White, Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii defeated Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi, and Kenny Omega via pinfall. Tomohiro Ishii claims a league match against Kenny Omega after the match.

6-Man Tag Team Match:
Rey Mysterio, KUSHIDA, and Sengoku Enbu defeated Kazuchika Okada and Roppongi 3K via pinfall.

NJPW G1 28 Climax Final:
Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Kota Ibushi via pinfall. “The Ace” wins this G1 and will go into the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 13.
