This is the preview corresponding to the NXT program on Wednesday, May 16, which will be broadcast from the Full Sail University in Orlando.
Tommaso Ciampa savagely attacked Johnny Gargano several weeks ago, knocking out his former best friend with a horrible display of malice. Blackheart followed with more punishments last week when he defeated Kassius Ohno who was trying to avenge Gargano. With the sadistic plans of Ciampa bearing fruit, what will be the next of the psychotic Blackheart?
Dunne, Lorcan and Burch team up against The Undisputed Era. United for their mutual animosity for The Undisputed Era WWE UK champion Pete Dunne will join forces with Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch to face NXT North American champion Adam Cole and NXT Tag Team champions Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly in a match of Six-Man Tag Team tonight.
The BruiserWeight partnership with Lorcan & Burch is practical. Lorcan and Burch saved the UK champion from Undisputed Era’s three-on-one attack on May 2, but that was more due to Lorcan and Burch’s problems with ERA than to any kind of allegiance to Dunne. (In fact, when speaking in favor of forming a team Lorcan described Dunne as “a piece of trash,” and Dunne did not object.)
On the contrary, The Undisputed Era is indisputably aligned. Will the cohesion of Cole, Strong and O’Reilly give them an advantage against the six-man of opponents? Or Dunne, Lorcan, and Burch can use their extreme animosity towards The Undisputed was to join and launch for victory?
Ricochet and The Velveteen Dream will fight to be the focus of attention. Two of the best of NXT will face each other in an individual competition for the first time when Ricochet sees the faces with The Velveteen Dream in the black and yellow mark after their conflicted altercation last week.
Velveteen Dream has established itself as one of NXT’s main competitors over the past year, while Ricochet burst onto the scene as a superstar to watch from his debut on NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Taking as an exception the attention given to Ricochet, as well as Ricochet’s objective of challenging the NXT Title (an opportunity that Dream believes belongs to him), The Velveteen Dream interrupted The One and Only last week. But before the sparks could jump, Dream looked for a clue and avoided punching Ricochet.
NXT’s Finest returns to action. Kona Reeves did his long-awaited resurgence on WWE NXT two weeks ago, powerfully “good” in a victorious effort. Reeves now seeks to continue to knock down the competition when he returns to action in the ring tonight. How will Reeves’ path follow the initial success of his second “first impression”?
