The Rollins era as a champion has come to an end. Tonight during the Monday Night Raw broadcast, Dolph Ziggler defeated Seth Rollins to be crowned as the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
The new champion got his Opportunity by responding to Rollins’ weekly open challenge who was momentarily overwhelmed by a minor distraction from McIntyre that Ziggler took advantage of to take the best part in a roll-up exchange. In this way, the reign of Rollins ends after two months and seven successful defenses.
With this victory, Ziggler begins his sixth reign with the Intercontinental Championship which he captured for the last time during 2016 as part of the SmackDown brand after defeating The Miz at that moment, in a fight where he had to put his career on the line. After only 37 days as champion, “The Show Off” lost the title again in front of Miz and it took two years to recover it, this time in front of “The Architect”.
