Austin Aries continues to reign. The independent professional wrestler has added a new championship to his extensive collection. Aries defeated Shane Strickland last Saturday in the DEFY Vibes event to win the DEFY Wrestling championship.
With this victory, Aries becomes the third champion in the history of the belt and ends the reign of 279 days of Strickland. Shane completed a total of five successful defenses against Matt Riddle, Brody King, Mess Rush, Matt Cross and Matt Sydal.
At one point in the fight, Shane Strickland defeated Aries. The wrestler celebrated the victory by minutes and thought he had won the Impact Wrestling championship but a second referee appeared to say that Aries’ foot was touching the rope. The fight was reinitiated and Aries took the final victory with the Brainbuster.
This is the sixth championship that Austin Aries has in its possession. The self-proclaimed fighter as “The Belt Collector” has titles in Impact Wrestling (2), Defiant Wrestling, IPW UK, WSW and DEFY Wrestling. In the near future, Aries will challenge for the Ring of Honor (ROH) world television championship.
DEFY Wrestling is an independent company based in Seattle, Washington. With less than a year of history, DEFY stands out for its photography and production very careful and close to the cinema.
