Yesterday, the possible dates for the tapings of the second tournament of the Mae Young Classic, the WWE women’s tournament to be held at the Full Sail University in Orlando, were leaked.
After the success of the first Mae Young Classic in the summer of 2017, WWE is now planning a second that will take place this summer.
Bryan Alvarez confirmed in the most recent episode of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the second annual tournament will take place on August 7 and 8 live from Full Sail University.
The only part of the program that was broadcast live last year was the final and it seems that this could be the case again this summer with the current date of the show on the WWE Network still unknown.
The tournament is only two months away and WWE has not even started promoting the next event which means that the company should start publicizing the competition in the near future. The official announcement is expected to be made during the week of the United Kingdom tournament.
It has also been known that WWE has contacted the fighter Toni Storm to be part of it. The Australian was a semifinalist last year falling to the later winner Kairi Sane.
Kairi Sane won the first Mae Young Classic last year when she defeated current NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler in the final of the tournament but has not been able to repeat this feat in NXT in recent months.
The Mae Young Classic allowed WWE to add a number of new women to their roster. although many of these women have only made a handful of appearances on NXT since they were hired by the company last summer, Bianca Belair has apparently been an of the outstanding stars after their appearance in the Tournament.
