The legendary British wrestling program World of Sports will return to the screens very soon, as PWInsider has been able to advance. ITV, one of the most important channels in the United Kingdom and which has rights for the company is announcing five new tapings at the Epic Studios in Norwich for the next 10 and 11 May.
World of Sport was a sports anthology series that was broadcast for 20 years at ITV and presented the best and greatest fighters in Europe. When the decision was made in 1985 to cancel the series, local wrestling in that region was paralyzed for many years, setting the stage for the then growing popularity of the WWF in the region to flourish only a few years later.
According to the portal, ITV and several shareholders have decided to resume the project with great ambition and enthusiasm. ITV resumed the project in 2014, to then order and issue a pilot episode in 2016 which had good data with a million viewers. Impact Wrestling got involved in the project and brought many fighters from the promoter along with Jeff Jarrett, who was the creative director to give the program more quality. Due to the calendar and logistical problems between the Impact fighters the project was postponed and then disgraced.
Now, ITV wants to re-float the legendary series with new fighters and format. At the moment, no fighters who could participate have been announced. The tickets for the tapings are free if you want to get them please click here.
