UFC preview: Derrick Lewis underdog against Chris Daukaus

UFC Fight Night: Derrick Lewis vs Chris Daukaus is the final UFC event of 2021 and will see the promotion head back to Las Vegas.

The fight card is one that appears to have a rather strong card overall, however the main event between the two aforementioned fighters is going to be the contest that many will look out for when they watch it.

Indeed, for those who wish to place a bet on the action that takes place inside the Octagon, it would seem that those who head to Betway Sportsbook would be able to get Daukaus as the favourite with a price of 8/11.

But, what can be expected when the pair meet and clash in this contest?

Lewis was recently defeated at UFC 265 in August by Ciryl Gane, which will have likely ended the heavy-handed hitter’s hopes of becoming the UFC heavyweight champion firmly in the back seat now. Nonetheless, that does not stop the fighter from being incredibly dangerous, especially given his punching power.

Known as ‘The Black Beast’, Lewis is still one of the best competitors in the division and it would seem that the UFC still rates him highly after putting him on the card for this event. Furthermore, a win over him could propel an individual into title contention.

Daukaus could be the man, though, that topples the experienced fighter and pushes himself into contention in the future. Indeed, although he only made his debut in UFC around 18 months ago, he has already managed to secure two rather impressive victories whilst in the Octagon.

The Philadelphia native managed to beat both Aleksei Oleinik and Shamil Abdurakhimov, with both of them being ranked within the top 15 of the division. These fights were even more impressive given his physic, as he does not look like a traditional fighter in the sense of being muscular or ripped, but he is incredibly quick.

Additionally, his punch packs a huge amount of power, which is evidenced by the fact that each of his wins has come via a method of KO or TKO. However, it should be noted that he has never come up against a fighter like Lewis, with his opponent being incredibly quick despite being rather large and powerful.

With everything that has been outlined about the two fighters, Lewis vs Dankaus looks to be an interesting fight that has all the ingredients of being a potential humdinger.
