Throughout his still-young boxing career, the 25-year-old YouTube sensation has amassed five strong victories, four of which ended in a stoppage. His opponents, on the other hand, have all been amateurs.
Starting with the “most celebrity” matchup of the five, Paul made his debut against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in January 2020 before defeating former NBA star Nate Robinson in November of the same year.
Following that, Paul defeated former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweights Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.
Paul’s final bout was supposed to be against his first legitimate boxer. That is, until the opponent, Tommy Fury, had to withdraw due to injury. As a result, Woodley stepped in to fight again.
Now, Paul has recently gone back and forth with another former UFC champion, Michael Bisping, despite teasing a return to the ring in August.
Bisping, 43, last fought in November 2017, when he was knocked out in the first round by Kelvin Gastelum in Shanghai, China (watch highlights). During his retirement, the British MMA legend has had many surgeries to address residual ailments from his career.
Though he’s entertained the idea of boxing Paul in the past and has recently played along, it’s unclear how serious “The Count” is about attempting to revenge his deceased MMA brothers.
Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor will not happen
Jake Paul has been advised that his plan to face Conor McGregor in the UFC would fail as long as he continues to agitate for higher fighter pay.
Throughout his five-bout boxing career, Paul has regularly challenged McGregor to a fight and attempted to coax the superstar into the ring or cage. Recently, Paul offered UFC president Dana White the opportunity to fight in the octagon in exchange for improved fighter pay within the company if he wins.
However former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub believes White would avoid making a meeting if there is too much financial risk involved in a payment restructure.
“So I told Jake remember the deal he offered Dana, when he goes ‘Hey I’ll fight Conor in the UFC, if i win though you have got to increase the minimum salary for fighters and if I lose you can donate my salary to the rest of the card’,” Schaub said on the Impaulsive podcast.
“I told Jake you have got to back down on that and he’s like ‘what?’. I go ‘hear me out here you have to back down on that’ because let’s say you knock out Conor McGregor, and let’s say Dana makes to be outlandish $100 million from that fight he’s still losing money.
“Because if he increases that fighter pay for the rest of eternity, it’s going cost him hundreds of millions of dollars so the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.”
