Jorge Masvidal’s supervisor Malki Kawa has accused Irish fighter Conor McGregor of ‘not responding’ to an offer for the pair to face each other in UFC.
American Dustin Poirier has recently defeated McGregor for the second consecutive time after being stopped in the opening round of their UFC 264 contest, following a broken leg.
However, Kawa has revealed that he ‘accepted an offer on behalf of his client Masvidal for a potential clash between the pair, Buth Conor has ‘never responded’.
“Guys, stop this. Masvidal is too big for him, that’s why Dana White never liked this fight,” Kawa responded to a fan on Twitter.
“Of course, and we did when it was offered (McGregor fight offer).
“Then they said he never responded. So don’t know what to tell you.”
Masvidal has not been in action since his loss with Kamaru Usman at welterweight at UFC 261 earlier in April. However, he is reportedly eyeing to make a return to action within five or six months.
The American has frequently been rumoured to fight with Conor McGregor in his career and has fought former opponents of the 33-year-old, including Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz.
But UFC president Dana White has previously claimed he is not keen on the idea to see the fight between Irishman and American, stating that Masvidal is ‘too big’ to take part in any duel with McGregor.
‘Masvidal’s too big for him, I think Masvidal’s too big,” White revealed at the UFC 240 post-fight press conference.
Conor was not happy that I said Masvidal was too big for him, he said ‘that pis**s me off that you said he’s too big for me.
“I’m telling you guys, I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again, this guy will fight anybody and I don’t care if he’s pis**d off about it or not, I think that Masvidal is too big for Conor.
“If we ever get to that point, I’m sure it’s something Conor and I will fight about.”
McGregor has faced various criticism from the UFC after his tweet about Khabib’s father who has died from a coronavirus last year.
McGregor has also been rumoured to have a fight with YouTube star Jake Paul who has claimed that negotiations are underway for a fight after he makes a full recovery.
