Ronda Rousey will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame

During the UFC 255 event, it was announced that Ronda Rousey will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 17 at International Fight Week. The company confirmed the news in an official press release published on its website.

Ronda won an Olympic bronze medal in judo in Beijing 2008. After three amateur fights, she made her professional debut in March 2011. With two record wins she came to Strikeforce as one of the most promising talents at 135 pounds. Her powerful Armbar brought her to fame and in her fifth match, she faced Miesha Tate for the Strikeforce belt, which she wrestled with the same submission in the first round as in her other duels. Sarah Kaufman was her only defense in this promoter before performing in the UFC.

From February 2013 to August 2015 she defended the belt six times: three with armbar and three by knockout. In addition, she holds the record for performance bonuses with six. She lost the belt to Holly Holm at UFC 193 and a year later was defeated by Amanda Nunes, but her legacy is undeniable. Rousey was an important piece for women’s MMA to reach the UFC. Her talent, character and personality took her to the top and in July she will be recognized for her successful journey.

“There would be no women in the UFC without Ronda Rousey, ” said UFC president Dana White. “Ronda is a pioneer who helped me personally, and many other people, made women look at combat sports differently, achieved everything that was proposed with the UFC and became an icon and model to follow. The women’s divisions are full of incredibly talented fighters and produce some of the best fights we’ve ever seen, and we’re proud to announce Ronda as the newest member of the UFC 2018 Hall of Fame. ”

“It’s an immense honor, not only did I participate in taking women to the forefront of this sport, but I will also do the same in the UFC Hall of Fame,” Rousey said. ” I can be the first of many .”

Following the announcement, the media and WWE echoed the news. Round robin roommates Rousey in WWE congratulated the current Raw superstar, such as Natalya, Dustin Rhodes, Renee Young or Charlotte Flair. Ronda has her first individual fight in WWE in Money in The Bank. The presentation to the Hall of Fame will take place a week before Extreme Rules, although details have not yet been given about whether Ronda will fight in that show.
