Cody becomes the New IWGP United States Champion
Cody beat Juice Robinson at the NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed event held this morning from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California. In this way, Cody becomes the new IWGP United States champion. The victory came when Cody managed to transform a Superplex into a Small Package and apply the count of three.
September is being an incredible month for the former WWE star. In ALL IN event in which he was one of the promoters, he beat Nick Aldis to become the new NWA Heavyweight Champion. Cody will defend that title in the special NWA 70th anniversary show on October 21st from the Asylum at the Nashville Fairgrounds in Tennessee.
After his victory, Cody accompanied by Brandi Rhodes made the following statement in the press room:

This is the first time that Cody has won an NJPW championship and he has never previously won a title in Japan. But it may not be his last achievement in this period, since in NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed it was confirmed that Cody will fight for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in King of Pro-Wrestling on October 8. It will be a triple threat against Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi.
