Kenny Omega confirms his departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling

Tokyo Sports has published an interview in which Kenny Omega confirms his departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The Canadian wrestler lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 13 to Hiroshi Tanahashi and since his defeat was speculated on with possible hiring by AEW or WWE.

“There’s no place to fit in New Japan, Tanahashi is the new era of NJPW, I can not be there working below Tanahashi, I do not think I’ve gotten over it, I do not think it’s better, someday I’d like to fight against it if there’s a rematch, but for now it’s better not to stay in the ring for a while, it’s not just New Japan, it’s to think a bit and create a different strategy, “Kenny Omega said.

Omega also spoke of his defeat at Wrestle Kingdom 13: “The match was like a battle to decide the main character, the victory is fair, it’s a bit overwhelming, it was frustrating, of course, it was bad because I was defeated, and the responsibility is absolutely mine. ”

Kenny Omega also talked about his future and, despite recognizing his possible arrival in WWE or AEW, tried to avoid giving a clear answer out of respect for his current contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling: ” If I go to WWE, fans will be delighted, and the fans will also be happy if I go to AEW, I want to be in a place where I am happy, but since the contract with NJPW remains until the end of the month, I will avoid saying a specific destination. ”

As we indicated last weekend, WWE would have made an important offer to Kenny Omega to take their services. The Wrestlevotes portal indicated yesterday that the company would have done everything possible to hire him.
