Kenny Omega is the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Wrestler of the year
Kenny Omega has been chosen to occupy the first position of the PWI 500 list. The prestigious wrestling magazine Pro Wrestling Illustrated has published its list of the most important wrestlers of the year and the Canadian has been chosen to head the ranking.
The announcement has been made official in the most recent podcast edition of The Jim Ross Report, presented by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross. AJ Styles and Kazuchika Okada complete the podium.
Congratulations to @KennyOmegamanX on earning the prestigious #1 ranking in the 2018 #PWI500. For wrestling fans who only watch WWE, here’s another example of why you should give other companies a chance, too. pic.twitter.com/H6lIQPjPib

This is the first time that the current IWGP heavyweight champion achieves this achievement. In addition, this is the second year in a row that an NJPW wrestler ranks first in the PWI ranking. Kazuchika Okada was awarded in the previous edition.
It should be remembered that the writers of Pro Wrestling Illustrated choose the position of the wrestlers according to their record of victories and defeats, the championships achieved, their rivalries and, in general, the quality of their year. The evaluation period for this edition includes from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
Next, the first 10 wrestlers according to PWI :
1- Kenny Omega
2- AJ Styles
3- Kazuchika Okada
4- Brock Lesnar
5- Seth Rollins
6- Braun Strowman
7- Roman Reigns
8- Cody
