ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds 2018 Results: Lowell (Day 1)

War of the Worlds 2018 has begun. The companies Ring of Honor Wrestling (ROH) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) present a new joint tour for the 4th consecutive year. The first stop of this year’s edition has taken place in the city of Lowell. A total of 1,200 people have watched the evening live.

– The Briscoes (Mark & Jay) defeated Flip Gordon & Jushin Liger in the first match of the night. Great reaction for the four fighters, highlighting the pop for the entrance of Liger. Equal duel, with rude control by the heels and aerial movements by Flip. The Briscoes connect a new team movement from the third rope for the count of three.

– Tenille Dashwood & Sumie Sakai defeated Deonna Purrazzo & Skylar in a Women of Honor match. Skylar’s debut at ROH with a good ovation from the public. Tenille connects the Spotlight Kick on Skylar for the count of three. After the bell, Kelly Klein enters the ring to attack Deonna. The security personnel have to separate them to avoid the brawl.

The music of the world champion sounds. Dalton Castle dressed as an American and appears with The Boys. Castle stays on the ramp and asks for a microphone. The champion remembers that his reign is six months old this week. Dalton talks about his fight tonight against Matt Taven… to say it will not take place.

Dalton Castle gets serious among the boos of the public. Talk about your hand injury. The problems appeared shortly after Final Battle but he ignored them and continued to fight for the fans. Castle went to the doctor to give him a diagnosis. The champion takes out a piece of paper so as not to make mistakes and pronounces “my back is trash”. Dalton explains that he has to solve his problems if he does not want them to get worse.

Dalton says that if he can not give the level that is required of a star in ROH he does not want to disappoint the fans. The public is scared. Dalton calms them by saying he will not give up the world championship, he will only take time to solve all his injuries. “If I can not give you the fight that you deserve, I will give you a brunch at your height”. The Boys take out baskets with croissants and distribute them to the public.

The Kingdom makes its entrance to the ring. Matt Taven accompanies O’Ryan and Marseglia. Taven is very upset. Remember that when he got injured nobody gave him anything. Now, on the contrary, Dalton loses his smile and ROH managers do nothing about it. Taven demands that the management of the company leave right now to end the conspiracy against The Kingdom. Taven promises that the next time ROH returns to Lowell, he will be world champion.

– Coast 2 Coast (Shaheem Ali & LSG) defeated The Kingdom (Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan) in a tag team match. Short-duration combat with some obstacles. In the final minutes Daniels, Kazarian, and Sky appear and take the 6-man tag team championship that The Kingdom stole from them. Marseglia and O’Ryan are distracted and LSG takes advantage to get the victory with a Roll-Up.

Daniels boasts of having shown once again why they are the smartest fighters in the world. Taven gets upset and asks for a headline fight to solve this. Scorpio Sky accepts the challenge.

– Cheeseburger defeated Bully Ray for 20 out of the ring. Bully destroys Cheese with tough Last Ride Powerbombs. His rival does not move. Bully hits with a Low Blow and decides to get out of the ring. Bully crosses her arms and turns his back to the ring. The referee counts 20 and gives Cheese the victory.

Bully returns to the ring and again hits Cheese with the Powerbomb. Bully insults the announcer, Bobby Cruise, and the main commentator, Colt Cabana, before leaving.

– Bullet Club (Cody, Marty Scurll & Hagman Page) (with Burnard The Bear of Business) defeated Roppongi 3K (Rocky Romero, SHO & YOH) in a 6-man tag team match. The tensions between Marty and Cody get worse during the fight. Both are given relief without permission and Marty without wanting to, kicks Burnard’s head. This bothers Cody a lot and both end up pushing. In the end, after reversing a Rocky Slice Bread attempt, Cody connects the Cross Rhodes to the count of three.

Cody and Page celebrate at ringside but Scurll is not happy. Marty mocks Cody and leaves without waiting for them. Scurll points his waist making it clear that he will go for the world championship. Cody for his part remains alone and thoughtful in the middle of the ring.

– Los Ingobernables de Japon (Tetsuya Naito, EVIL & SANADA) defeated Silas Young, Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas. Great ovation for the Japanese who work as babyfaces. Milonas controls EVIL in the ring. In the vicinity, Bruiser fails a Canon Ball and falls on Silas. The Ungovernables take advantage of this and destroy Milonas. EVIL connects your STO on Milonas for the count of three.

– Chuckie T. defeated Jay Lethal and Jay White in a three-way match. At first, these three fighters were going to have a fight with SoCal Uncensored, but Taven’s injury forced the billboard to change. White and Taylor work together to fight Lethal. Lethal connects the Lethal Injection on White, gets up to find the count of three, but Chuckie appears out of nowhere and steals the victory with an Inside Cradle.

– The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan) defeated SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) to WIN the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. Chaos in the final minutes. Sky distracts the referee. Kazarian tries to hit Taven with the belt but ends up hitting Daniels. Taven takes advantage, connects the Frog Splash for the count of three.

– The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi in the main fight of the night. Confrontation of 20 minutes, the best of the show. Dynamic action with good false endings. BUSHI near is to take the victory to spit his mistress on Matt, but it is not enough. The Jackson brothers end up applying their Meltzer Driver for the count of three.
