NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 13 Results: Kenny Omega vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

New Japan Pro-Wrestling will celebrate today the thirteenth edition of the Wrestle Kingdom event from Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

– Gauntlet Match to determine the next challengers to the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship: Hangman Page, Marty Scurll and Yujiro Takahashi Vs. Yuji Nagata, Jeff Cobb, and David Finlay

Nagata starts against Scurll. Dropkick to the leg by Nagata Inverted Figure Four and relieved Cobb. The Elite clean the ring and focus on attacking Cobb. Combo of Superkick and SSOP on the edge of the ring. Page tries to finish with Cobb, who responds with a Fallaway Slam. Shift for Finlay and Yujiro. Fisherman Buster of Yujiro, but it does not come to anything. Finlay reverts with a Backbreaker and fails the Prima Nocta. Chase Owens interferes but is attacked by Page. Page discusses with Yujiro, pushes him and Finlay gets the quick count.

CHAOS (Hirooki Goto, Barreta and Chuckie T) vs. Yuji Nagata, Jeff Cobb, and David Finlay

CHAOS attack as soon as they enter. Goto applies a Lariat to Nagata. Try to raise but Nagata reverses in Nagata Lock II. Best Friends finish with their rivals, edging only Nagata. Ushigoroshi for the count of two. Best Friends go on the offensive against Nagata. Nagata fits the Nagata Lock to Barreta, but Chuck interrupts. Nagata manages to recover and gives the change to Cobb. Goto enters too. Cobb surpasses Goto with strength and agility. Both are matched and Chuck enters. Cobb ends with the Best Friends Finlay takes over but receives a Piledriver from Chuck. Chuck fails a Moonsault from the third and Finlay gets a quick count of three.

Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer, and Davey Boy Smith Jr.) vs. Yuji Nagata, Jeff Cobb, and David Finlay

Suzuki-gun assaults their rivals upon entering. Nagata is against Suzuki and they exchange slaps in the face. Manjigatame from Suzuki but Nagata responds with an Exploder. Suzuki’s Sleeper Hold and enter Smith. Olympic Slam by Cobb. A Standing Moonsault fails and Smith connects a Saito Suplex. Enter Finlay paper takes the Killer Bomb for the count of three.

Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer, and Davey Boy Smith Jr.) vs.Togi Makabe, Toru Yano, and Ryusuke Taguchi

Suzuki-gun goes directly to CHAOS and fight in the vicinity of the Dome. Suzuki is against Taguchi. Relay for Smith, who connects a Legdrop. Archer enters and sweeps Taguchi. ArcherTaguchi’s Old School fails the Hip Attack but connects another. Relay for Makabe, who deals Lariats. Suzuki kicked but it’s not enough. Exchange of blows and Makabe end with a Lariat. Enter Smith and Yano. Yano removes a cornerback and orders Taguchi tries to attack. KES enter and execute a Hart Attack, but it is not enough. Another combo, but nothing. Taguchi saves YanoTaguchi saves Makabe from a Suzuki Piledriver. KES are against Yano, who tries his tricks. Taguchi enters with Hip Attacks. Makabe’s Lariats, Yano surprises Smith with a low blow and covers for the quick count of three.

NEVER Openweight Championship: Kota Ibushi (c) vs. Will Ospreay

Quick start with several exchanges between the two. Ibushi takes distance and Ospreay kicks him in the middle of a Golden Moonsault. Sasuke Special. The British control until Ibushi connects a Frankensteiner. Corsa crew Asai Moonsault. Swan Dive Missile Kick and German Suplex for the count of two. Handspring Kick of Ospreay. Ibushi tries to attack but Ospreay connects a Nandos Kick. Exchange of blows and Ibushi dominates. Try the Last Ride Powerbomb, but start avoiding movements until Ospreay connects the Spanish Fly. Ibushi ends up reversing another movement quickly. German Suplex by Ospreay. Ibushi, with distance, runs and connects a Boma Ye and the Last Ride Powerbomb for the count of two.

Ibushi goes up to the corner, but Ospreay stops him. Ibushi falls leaning on the corner and begin to slap. Ospreay kicks lift Ibushi and they fight on top of the corner. Foot Stomp against the back of the neck by Ibushi and Swan Dive German Suplex, but Ospreay falls on his feet. Robinson Special, Ibushi bleeds for the face. The attempt of OsCutter that is reduced to a Straight Jacket German Suplex Hold. Try the Kamigote, but Ospreay escapes with a kick to the head. Lariat de Ibushi, but Will connects another. Ibushi avoids the Stormbreaker and uses a Cradle Piledriver. The champion tries the Kamigoye, but Ospreay escapes kick to the head and elbow. Load with Ibushi and finally connect the Stormbreaker for the count of three. (18:50)

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Suzuki-gun (Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado) (c) vs. Roppongi 3K (SHO and YOH) vs The Ungovernables of Japan (Shingo Takagi and BUSHI)

Roppongi begins attacking quickly and drive away the Ungovernable. Suzuki-gun goes on the offensive. Suzuki-gun reduces to YOH. Dragon Screw of CHAOS member and Rebound Superkick. I relay to SHO, who enters devastating with Lariats. Remains with Kanemaru, hits him and Suzuki-gun falls for Shingo to take over. Shingo surpasses SHO and tries the Last of the Dragon. Kanemaru interrupts and SHO connects a German Suplex to both.

Desperado enters with Spear to SHO. Enzuigiri of YOH, another of BUSHI, Lariat of SHO and Spinebuster of Desperado. Roppongi uses a double knee and remains standing. They attack Takagi, but it is not enough. Try the 3K, but enter BUSHI and Kanemaru. Roppongi kicks them, 3K to Desperado. Shingo takes advantage and runs a Double Lariat. Noshigami and two Pumping Bombers to SHO. BUSHI enters, Suicide Dice against his rivals. Shingo is left alone and tops SHO with the Last of the Dragon for the count of three. (06:50)

RPW British Heavyweight Championship: Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs. Zack Saber Jr.

Both are quickly avoided until Ishii uses a Backdrop Suplex. Zack connects an Armbar and happens to damage the right elbow of Ishii. Armbar again. Zack hits but Ishii does not sell the damage. The British use a Northern Lights Suplex and transitions to Ankle Lock. Ishii reverts to one of his own. Shoulder Tackle After some insists Zack tries a Guillotine Lock, but Ishii throws it with an Overhead Suplex. Ishii’s Superplex, but Zack gets up and uses an Elbow Twist.

After a few quick exchanges, Zack connects a Manjigatame. Ishii tries to escape but Zack transitions to a count of two. Penalty Kick and look for the Zack Driver. Ishii receives kicks and connects Chop to the throat. Powerbomb for the account of two. They slow their movements and Ishii uses a pair of powerful Lariats. Zack avoids the Brainbuster kicking the arm. Sleeper Hold, but Ishii escapes. Sliding D but Zack connects the European Clutch. The attempt of Japanese Leg Roll, but Ishii uses the Sliding D. Zack avoids another Brainbuster with a Guillotine transitioned to Manjigatame. Ishii ends up surrendering.

IWGP Tag Team Championship: Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) (c) vs. The Ungovernables of Japan (EVIL and SANADA) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

EVIL starts taking over from Tonga and attacking the Bucks, taking Matt to the entrance ramp. Lariat to the race. GOD take over from the Bucks and attack EVIL. The Bucks stop Tonga at the corner and take over. They clean the ring and focus on EVIL, with Neckbreaker and Senton combo. Neckbreaker assisted. Matt tries the Scorpion Deathlock while Nick jumps in Screw against SANADA. GOD help EVIL reach the ropes. The Bucks get angry and throw themselves at them. EVIL launches a powerful Lariat to Matt and changes to SANADA.

SANADA wipes out Paradise Lock Nick and Dropkick to Tonga. You can with the Bucks with several Irons. Try the Skull End, but Nick connects a Blockbuster to save his brother. Several interferences in the ring. Tower of Doom and Nick launches in 450 Splash against SANADA. Jado tries to interfere, Fale stops him. Superkicks from the Bucks to Jado so that EVIL can then take Fale out of the ring. GOD remain with the Bucks, try the Super Powerbomb. Matt escapes and Nick quickly enters for an Avalanche Frankensteiner. Superkicks to SANADA. The Bucks try the IndyTaker, but Tonga brakes Nick with a Gun Stun. SANADA and EVIL connect the Magic Killer to Matt followed by a SANADA Moonsault Press for the count of three. (10:15)

IWGP United States Championship: Cody (c) vs. Juice Robinson

Juice starts strong, dominating Cody. Brandi enters to protect her husband. Both pass to the edge of the ring, where Cody tries the Crossrhodes out of the ring, but Juice stops him. Cody throws it against the ring post. Cody focuses on damaging the left arm. Brandi interferes with a Spear to Juice. Tiger Hattori, the referee, sees Brandi attacking Juice and ejects her. Juice tries the Pulp Friction, but Cody connects a Crossrhodes to the count of two. Cody gets up for the Din’s Fire, but Juice tries another Pulp Friction. Change and Crossrhodes to Cody. Juice tries his punch but takes a Disaster Kick plus a Pulp Friction from Cody.

Cody hits Juice with his belt. Exchange of blows. Cody’s Superkick to stop Juice’s punches. Try another Disaster Kick, but Juice connects two direct punches. Pulp Friction, but Juice gets up and applies another one for the count of three. (09:02)

IWGP Junior Weight Championship: KUSHIDA (c) vs Taiji Ishimori

Initially, KUSHIDA with fast movements. Dropkicks to the arm and looks for the Hoverboard Lock. Ishimori reverts to the Lebell Lock and KUSHIDA reaches the ropes. Chops but Ishimori takes control. Sliding German Suplex and try a 450 Splash. KUSHIDA dodges and fits an Armbar to transition to a Triangle Hold and later to the Hoverboard. Modified mysticism with Lebell Lock by Ishimori. Ishimori kicks and stops KUSHIDA, trying the Facebuster. KUSHIDA supports his opponent against the referee and kicks him.

The champ uses an Enzuigiri, but Ishimori connects a Facebuster. Bloody Cross attempt that ends with KUSHIDA turning it into Hoverboard Lock. He goes to the middle of the ring with the key, but Ishimori breaks free and throws KUSHIDA in Fireman’s Carry Slam. Kneel to the corner and look again for the Bloody Cross, but receives a Back to the Future from KUSHIDA. KUSHIDA tries another, but Ishimori escapes and throws the knee. KUSHIDA responds with a direct punch and takes distance. Ishimori receives him with a Foot Stom plus Bloody Cross to win. (11:17)

Jay White vs Kazuchika Okada

Okada is shown superior at the beginning, but Gedo interferes to distract Okada, which White takes to take control. Okada recovers and slaps White. DDT from Okada to recover moment. Dropkick at the corner of Okada. Outside the ring Gedo attacks Okada. The Rainmaker sends White and Gedo over the fences and is thrown in Running Crossbody over them.

Back to the ring, Okada continues with a Diving Elbow Drop. White stops Okada with a Complete Shot, German Suplex and Uranage. The attempt of Blade Runner, but Okada escapes. Lariat de White. White and Gedo distract the referee to introduce a chair. White tries to attack but Okada dodges and finishes with Dropkick. The attempt of Rainmaker that White turns into Sleeper Suplex. Kiwi Krusher for the count of two. Another threat from Blade Runner, but Okada connects a Tombstone Piledriver. After several exchanges, Okada fails a Dropkick. Both look for their finishers, but the sequence ends with Okada’s Dropkick. Rolling Rainmaker. Okada has the victory, try the Rainmaker but White surprises with the Blade Runner for the count of three. (14:18)

IWGP Intercontinental Championship – No-disqualification match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Tetsuya Naito

Naito attacks Jericho as soon as he enters, takes him to the entrance ramp and applies a Piledriver. They enter the ring and Naito attacks with the protector of the cornerback. Frankensteiner and pose of Tranquilo. Naito tries a Suicide Diver, but Jericho hits with a shinai (kendo stick). Jericho continues with more hits and tramples the shinai towards the challenger’s throat. Attack with the shinai on the edge of the ring and Triangle Dropkick. Out of the ring follows the attack, with DDT to the commentator’s table.

Upon returning Jericho continues with a Diving Crossbody. Jericho gets a Lionsault, but Naito recovers with a Jumping Elbow Attack. Dropkick to the nape. Naito brakes Jericho at the corner spits him out and runs a pair of Neckbreakers. Naito takes the reins of the fight, tries the Corner Dropkick but Jericho transforms into Boston Crab. Naito escapes and Jericho uses an Enzuigiri. Dito tornado of Naito plus Gloria. Destiny’s first attempt, but Jericho manages to fit the Walls of Jericho. Naito takes the shinai and hits Jericho. Naito hits more with the shinai until Jericho dodges and uses the Codebreaker for the count of two.

Jericho leaves the ring and introduces a bunch of chairs. Pick up Naito for Powerbomb but receive a DDT against the chairs. Naito’s codebreaker for the count of two. Naito goes up to the corner, but Jericho throws him a chair. Jericho tries a Suplex but Naito throws it in German Suplex on one of the chairs. Try a Fate but Jericho hits the crotch and Codebreaker. Count 1, 2 … Naito escapes. Jericho takes the Intercontinental IWGP Championship. Run to hit Naito, who responds with a Flapjack against the unprotected cornerback. Destiny and account of 1, 2 … Jericho escapes. Naito grabs the belt, hits Jericho and Destino for the count of three. (22:35)

IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi

Initial courier with Omega missing Tanahashi. Tanahashi tries to surprise Omega and takes control with a Kangokugatame. Omega gets a knee to the stomach and focuses on the back of the challenger. Kenny’s backdrop, which brings out Tanahashi. Omega leaves and Back Suplex against the edge of the ring. Omega throws Tanahashi against the fences and runs, but Tanahashi brakes with Dropkick. Omega recovers and throws Tanahashi against the commentator’s table. Asai Moonsault from the fences. Omega takes out a table and places it. Tanahashi runs for him and they enter the ring. Exchange of blows until Tanahashi answers with Dragon Screw, Shotgun Dropkick and Rolling Senton from the second string. Omega uses a Chop plus Kotaro Krusher. Omega prepares to jump out of the ring, but Tanahashi enters and throws a Dropkick.

When returning Omega uses a Dropkick Diving towards the neck. Dragon Suplex plus V-Trigger. Tanahashi escapes the One-Winged Angel. You Can not Escape combo, but Tanahashi brakes Omega and Dragon Screw to the knee. Twist and Shot and Texax Cloverhold. Omega tries to escape and Tanahashi transforms into Styles Clash. Tanahashi climbs to the corner and jumps in High Fly Flow, but Omega brakes him with his knees. Omega recovers before runs for a V-Trigger. Tanahashi pulls away and the champion hits the cornerback protector. Tanahashi catches Omega with the ropes and executes another Dragon Screw. Slingblade on the edge of the ring placed Omega on the table and launched High Fly Flow out of the ring. Omega moves away and Tanahashi hits the table.

Omega introduces Tanahashi in the ring. He supports it on the second string and Foot Stomp. Several Powerbombs plus Doctor Bomb, but the count does not reach 3. V-Trigger attempt that Tanahashi turns into Slingblade. Omega gets up and hits Tanahashi. Exchange of blows, but Omega ends with knees and pats at the nape of Tanahashi. German Suplex and Ace are coming up. More blows to the chest by Omega followed by a Canadian Slingblade. Omega climbs and launches in High Fly Flow. Tanahashi escapes before one’s account. V-Trigger series until Tanahashi stops him. Omega manages to fit a Reverse Frankensteiner and V-Trigger. Another V-Trigger and raise in One-Winged Angel, but Tanahashi responds with Reverse Frankensteiner.

Dragon Suplex Hold but the account does not reach three. Two High Fly Flows from Tanahashi, but Omega escapes. Tanahashi goes back up to the corner and Omega runs with another V-Trigger. Avalanche Dragon Suplex and Omega go up to Tanahashi for the One-Winged Angel. Tanahashi transforms it into Slingblade, adds another one and ends with the final One-Winged Angel for the count of three. (39:13)

Winner and NEW CHAMPION: Hiroshi Tanahashi

After the match, Tanahashi takes the microphone and celebrates with the fans. He says he will try to create a new scenario for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and the new era. He says goodbye to the public with his classic segment of Air Guitar to finish the show.
