NJPW
NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 13 will be broadcasted globally through Fite TV
New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) will broadcast its most important event of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 13, on January 4, 2019 from Tokyo Dome. Apart from the regular broadcast on its official platform, New Japan World, the company would have reached an agreement with Fite TV.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports exclusively that NJPW will announce this agreement tomorrow, having closed it during this week. The broadcast can be seen live in both Japanese and English (with Chris Charlton and Kevin Kelly in comments) at a price of $34.99, being available later on video on demand on the platform of Fite. It should be remembered that Fite TV works with different platforms such as Roku or mobile devices.
In this way, NJPW increases the coverage of the event. Additionally, NJPW reported during the past week that Wrestle Kingdom will be aired on AXS TV on January 4, a few hours apart from the retransmission in Japan. Thus, Wrestle Kingdom would arrive delayed and with a two-hour format to American television, picking up the two main meetings of the show (the fight for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and the fight for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship). During the following weeks, AXS will continue to broadcast the rest of the show.
Together with the New Japan World, Fite TV and AXS TV, the company creates an opportunity for any fan anywhere in the world to see the Wrestle Kingdom 13. It should be remembered that in the past the company that owns Fite TV, Flipps Media, was also responsible for the distribution of Wrestle Kingdom 9 together with Global Force Wrestling (GFW), with moderate success.
