Wrestling Dontaku 2018 Results (Day 1): Cody def. Kota Ibushi

The Japanese company New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) celebrated Thursday the first day of Wrestling Dontaku from the Fukuoka Convention Center. Between the main combats, they are the revenge between Kota Ibushi and Cody, and the duel Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page.

Yota Tsuji & Shota Umino vs. BULLET CLUB (Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens)
Good start for Tsuji on Yujiro, until the Bullet Club member manages to respond and give Chase relief. The Young Lion is defiant to Owens’s forearm and connects a Dropkick. Umino faces Owens but falls to a combination of Gutbuster and Package Piledriver.

BULLET CLUB wins via pinfall.

Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask & Ryusuke Taguchi Vs. Ren Narita, Tomoyuki Oka & Yuji Nagata

Oka starts proudly against Liger, who responds with a Shotei Palm Strike. Tiger enters and looks for an Armbar, but Ren Narita breaks the key. Liger takes him out of the ring and stars against the barricade. Nagata saves Oka from Tiger Mask and hits him to motivate him. Relief for Narita who attacks Taguchi with his companions. Boston Crab in the middle of the ring, Tiger saves his partner. Action in ringside while Narita and Taguchi continue fighting. Taguchi’s Dodon for the count of three.

Roppongi 3K (Rocky Romero, SHO & YOH) vs. Suzuki-gun (Lance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Takashi Iizuka)
Violent start by Suzuki-gun, who take their rivals out of the ring and attack them harshly. Iizuka bites SHO in the ring and takes control. Surprise Roll Up from SHO for the count of three that leaves the members of Suzuki-gun furious.
Roppongi 3K wins via pinfall.

After the fight, Archer applies a Chokeslam to a Young Lion.

Togi Makabe, Michael Elgin, David Finlay, Juice Robinson & Toa Henare. CHAOS (YOSHI-HASHI, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, Hirooki Goto & Jay White)
Elgin asks to start the fight against Goto. Round trip even until Makabe and Ishii enter. The combat is chaotic for the moment with fighters that enter and leave. Henare dominates at times the fight but ends up falling before a White Blade Runner.
CHAOS wins via pinfall.

BULLET CLUB (Tama Tonga, Thong Loa & Bad Luck Fale) (c) vs. BULLET CLUB (Marty Scurll & The Young Bucks) NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship Match
Fale starts against Scurll who soon requests the relief. Nick asks to face Tama, who dominates him and looks for a Double Suplex with Loa. Matt saves his brother and joins Marty on Fale, who overcomes them with his power. The champions continue to control, Fale seeks the account on Scurll without success. The Bucks enter and apply Sharpshooters to Tanga and Tama, Fale attacks them. The challengers attack together and look for the pin on Loa. Triple Superkick to Loa and More Bang For Your Buck for the count of three.
Marty Scurll & The Young Bucks win to become new champions

Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki, Zack Saber Jr., Taichi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & The Desperado) vs. The Ungovernables of Japan (Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, Hiromu Takahashi, BUSHI & EVIL)
Suzuki-gun attacks the Ungovernables and takes the action to ringside. Desperado is attacked by Hiromu, BUSHI, and Naito but avoids the pin. Minoru applies a Big Boot to Tetsuya to save Despy. Chaos in ringside, Naito is destroyed with fences by Suzuki. Naito is trampled all over Suzuki-gun when he returns to the ring. Suzuki and Saber apply keys to Naito at the same time. SANADA changes the situation at times. Chaos is partially maintained, Kanemaru remains in the ring. STO and three counts.
The Ungovernables of Japan wins via pinfall.
After the match, The Young Bucks challenge EVIL and SANADA for their IWGP tag team Championships. Superkick for both before fleeing. EVIL recovers and accepts the challenge.

Hiroshi Tanahashi & KUSHIDA Vs. Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay
Tanahashi and Okada start the fight under a great response from the public. Brief crossing and give the relief to KUSHIDA and Ospreay who enter at full speed. Okada surprises Tanahashi and throws him against the barricade. Relays between Okada and Ospreay on KUSHIDA, both punish their neck. Tanahashi enters and connects both opponents. Okada looks for a Tombstone Piledriver in ringside but Tana escapes. Dragon Screw to Okada against the ropes. Cloverleaf to Okada while KUSHIDA applies the Hoverboard Lock to Ospreay. Rapid exchanges between KUSHIDA and Will, Ospreay does not get the account. KUSHIDA catches Ospreay in the air with an Armbar, Tana drives Okada away but Will manages to escape on his own. Spanish Fly and relief for Okada, who takes Tanahashi from his corner. Super DDT to Ospreay, KUSHIDA then avoids a Rainmaker and almost manages to cover Okada.

Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay wins via pinfall.

Cody vs. Kota Ibushi One on One

Cody gets angry early and throws a chair into the ring. Ibushi controls the fight and Cody cannot attack. Cody complains of a pain in the neck and leaves the ring, but takes the opportunity to attack the rope to Kota. Cody is now the one who dominates Ibushi in ringside and again in the ring, applying punches. Figure Four Leglock for Kota. Ibushi responds with hard kicks and Hurricanrana. Cody’s Disaster Kick and two counts. Cody mistakenly hits Red shoe referee with a Splash against the corner. The referee is served by the Young Lions. Cody takes the opportunity to put together a table in the ring and looks for a Superplex. They fight in the heights and Kota applies a Double Foot Stomp on the table that does not break. Repeat the movement and the table breaks partially, leaving Cody sunken in it and with the back bleeding. Last Ride and Red Shoes returns just and counts two. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page are entering for their fight. Cody attacks Omega! Page adds to the attack but Omega kicks the table that Cody was taking out. The bell rings and the fight officially begins.

Omega flies over Page first and Cody later. Rite of Passage to Omega on the closed table at ringside! DDT on a chair in the ring, Omega’s head is bleeding. Omega to Page in ringside. Rolling Senton of Omega that then fails a Moonsault. Slingshot Lariat from Page and Powerbomb when returning to the ring, but it’s not enough. Page punishes Omega’s bruised head during combat. Omega DDT and two counts. Page avoids a V-Trigger but receives another one in the back. Piledriver to Omega in the middle of the ring. Omega escapes! Top Rope Neckbreaker and Omega this time take the ropes to save yourself. V-Trigger of Omega, Enziguri of Page and another V-Trigger that hits squarely in Hangman. They struggle to look for their auctions and Omega ends up applying a Snap Dragon Suplex. V-Trigger to avoid a Slingshot Lariat, Page just escapes from the count of three. V-Trigger and Tiger Driver for another account of two. V-Trigger and One Winged Angel to finally end Hangman Page.
