ROH Best in the World July 1, 2018 Results
Ring of Honor Wrestling (ROH) closed the weekend of Best in the World with a new set of taping for television. The night after the Pay-Per-View (PPV), the stars of ROH staged an event from the city of Fairfax, Virginia. The evening lasted about five hours and sold all the tickets that were sold (around 2,000).
Below is the full results:
– LSG (with Shaheem Ali) defeated a local talent in the first dark match of the evening.
The first recorded segment was starring Dalton Castle, Jay Lethal, Matt Taven and Cody. The four fighters made a small promo talking about the world championship. The segment was uploaded to the official YouTube channel and it was confirmed that the fight would be broadcast exclusively by Honor Club that same night.
– Sumie Sakai defeated HZK (with Kagetsu & Hana Kimura) to RETAIN the Women of Honor Championship. The champion applied the Smashmouth for the count of three. Stardom champion Kagetsu attacked Sakai after the fight.
– The Briscoes (Mark & Jay) defeated Beer City Bruiser & Silas Young in a non-title match. Mark connected the Froggy Bow for the count of three. SoCal Uncensored attacked the Briscoes after the bout to position themselves as the new challengers to the championship in ROH pairs.
– Madison Rayne defeated Kelly Klein, Tenille Dashwood, and Karen Q to become the RETURNER number one to the Women of Honor Championship. Rayne did the three count on Karen with the Sit Out Neckbreaker.
At first, Flip Gordon was going to team up with Cheeseburger and Josh Woods in a trio match, but Bully attacked them before the fight.
– Punishment Martinez, Shane Taylor, and Bully Ray defeated Flip Gordon and Josh Woods in a combat at a disadvantage. Taylor did the three count to Cheese. The heels continued their attack after the fight. Cabana appeared to equalize forces; when Gordon took a chair, Bully retired to backstage.
– Jay Lethal defeated Dalton Castle, Matt Taven, and Cody to WIN the ROH World Championship. Combat issued by Honor Club. After much chaos, Cody and Taven are knocked out while crossing a table. Lethal applies the Lethal Injection for the count of three.
– The Dawgs (Will Ferrara & Rhett Titus) defeated two local fighters in a brief match.
– KUSHIDA defeated Jonathan Gresham a combat described as fantastic.
Austin Aries starred in a segment on the ring with the Impact championship on his shoulder. Aries proclaimed himself the best fighter in the world and remembered that if it were not for his stable, Generation Next, ROH would have been forgotten in 2004. Aries challenged Jay Lethal to close the segment.
– Oedo Tai (Hana Kimura & Kagetsu) defeated Jenny Rose & Mayu Iwatani after Kagetsu applied a Death Valley Bomb to Rose.
In the ring, Cody and Nick Aldis starred in a segment. Aldis blamed Cody for not winning the world championship in Best in the World. Cody told him he could put All In stake your ring of honor. The tension increased and forced the rest of the Bullet Club to leave to separate them.
– The Kingdom (Taven, O’Ryan & Marseglia) defeated Kenny King, Chuckie T & Eli Isom to RETAIN the ROH world Six-man tag team championship. The champions applied Rockstar Supernova for the count of three.
– Chris Sabin defeated Silas Young to become the number one Contender to the world TV championship. Sabin stole the victory with the Cradle Shock.
– Marty Scurll defeated Hurricane Helms in a combat described as very funny. Duel between hero and villain to awaken the audience after four hours of recordings. Marty applied a low blow to Helms and won with a Small Package.
– The Ungovernables (EVIL, SANADA & BUSHI) defeated Hung Bucks (Adam Page & The Young Bucks) and SoCal Uncensored (Daniels, Kazarian & Sky) in the main battle of the night. The Briscoes intervened to annoy SCU. Jay Briscoe hit Daniels with a chair, serving on a platter the victory to BUSHI, who connected his Flying Codebreaker for the count of three.
