Ring of Honor Wrestling (ROH) continues to grow. The North American company has closed the first quarter with two new attendance records. According to the Lavie Margolin, The events held in January, February and March of this year, 2018, have been the most successful in the history of the company.
First, ROH has registered an absolute attendance record. A total of 10,128 people have attended the events held by the company this first quarter. This number surpasses the previous record (10.000) of the year 2015. The big difference is in that ROH has obtained a greater attendance celebrating only eight events unlike the year 2015 they celebrated a total of 10.
Of these eight events, ROH has registered seven sold out (full absolute, in Spanish), six of them consecutive. The Sinclair Broadcasting Group company has set a new attendance record in the city of Nashville (1,400 fans) and has improved ticket sales on the Honor Rising tour (held in Japan), filling both nights the Korakuen Hall. Also worth mentioning is a new sold-out at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and a full double on the 16th Anniversary weekend in the city of Las Vegas.
The average attendance of the events has also been recorded (1,266 people per show). This record improves the previous mark of 1,000 people/event of the year 2015. The percentage of sold-outs has also been something unprecedented (87%) and has exceeded by more than 20 points the numbers harvested in the first quarter of 2017 (60%).
Looking ahead to the second quarter of the year (April-June) ROH has a total of 17 events scheduled. The great attractions of this period will be three evenings in large pavilions:
- Supercard of Honor XII (New Orleans, April 6). Historical brand for the company with more than 5,100 tickets sold out of a total of 5,600 available.
- Best in the World (Baltimore, June 29). Next Pay-Per-View event (PPV) of the company. This event can become one of the most successful in the history of the company. The pavilion has a total capacity of approximately 4,600 to 5,500 fans.
- Fairfax Excellence (June 30, Washington). Return of the company to Northern Virginia after eight years of absence. Scheduled a television recording in a pavilion, the EagleBank Arena, of 10,000 people.
In this quarter, ROH will hold two major interpromotional tours with the company New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). In May, in the United States, War of the Worlds will take place. This tour will be composed of four events in cities that tend to have a good rate of sale (Lowell, Toronto, Chicago and Michigan).
In the case of Chicago, ROH will return to the Odeum, a large pavilion for 3,000 – 5,000 people. At the moment 1,000 tickets have been sold for this evening.
Later, in the same month of May, ROH will return to the United Kingdom for the celebration of Honor United. For the first time in the last three years, ROH presents its spring tour. The American company has decided to do without the visit to Liverpool instead, he will travel to Edinburgh, Doncaster and London. The London event, in turn, will be presented from a new pavilion with greater capacity (Crystal Palace Sports Center).
The other stops along these three months include usual cities such as Pittsburgh or Colombus. At the end of April, on the 27th and 28th, ROH will return to what has historically been its weakest market, Florida. The numbers from last year, however, were very positive thanks to the presence of Kenny Omega at the events.
Lastly, ROH will return to more profitable markets in early June. On day 2, ROH stars will present a new event at the Hammerstein Ballroom. This evening, unlike the previous ones, will be a television recording (the first in this pavilion since 2013). It will be interesting to see if these recordings register a new sold-out. The following week, ROH returns to San Antonio and Dallas. Highlights here the San Antonio event, which will take place at the Aztec Theater (an enclosure used on occasion by WWE NXT).
In general, the second quarter of ROH will be characterized by changes. After the good numbers registered in the last year. the company will risk and hold events in new cities and larger pavilions. All these evenings, with the exception of the television recordings, will be broadcast live on the official platform of ROH, Honor Club. the average attendance this quarter can range between 1,5000 and 1,750 fans per event.
