AJ Styles will face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2019
During the broadcasts of SmackDown Live, it was confirmed that AJ Styles will get a new opportunity against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship in the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View, which will be held on January 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
At the beginning of the transmissions, it was confirmed the realization of a fatal 5-way to define the next challenger to the WWE Championship. The participants of this contest were AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali, Rey Mysterio, and Samoa Joe. The latter managed to win his place in the match after defeating Jeff Hardy that same night.
The match counted with great moments on the part of its participants. In the last seconds of the match, AJ Styles managed to apply a springboard 450 splash to Randy Orton to achieve a victory by pinfall and, in this way, face Daniel Bryan again for WWE title.
The confrontation between Bryan and Styles in Royal Rumble marks the continuation of a rivalry that has developed during the last months of 2018, which took an unexpected turn when Bryan reached a controversial victory against AJ in the SmackDown previous to Survivor Series, thus achieving the WWE Championship. Styles asked for the rematch for the pay-per-view TLC: Tables Ladders and Chairs, where Daniel Bryan was the winner.
