Brock Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship against Finn Balor at Royal Rumble 2019
In the recent Monday Night Raw, WWE President Vince McMahon appeared to solve the situation surrounding the suspension of Braun Strowman for the Royal Rumble event. After the segment, McMahon was interrupted by Finn Bálor, John Cena, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin. Among those announced a match that ended up winning Balor.
Before the intervention of Cena on McMahon; Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Finn Bálor made an appearance to demand a starting chance against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble event. The segment ended with the four superstars faced and McIntyre dominating. After the confrontation, The Chairman paid a Fatal 4-Way for that same night and the winner would go on to get the starting chance against Lesnar.
The winner of the match turned out to be Finn Bálor. In the last moments of the match, Bálor managed to apply Coup of Fate on John Cena to achieve victory and thus become the challenger to the Brock Lesnar Universal Championship in the Royal Rumble event. After the match, Cena dedicated a few words of encouragement to Bálor as a sign of respect.
