During the 205 Live broadcasts, general manager Drake Maverick confirmed that Buddy Murphy will defend his WWE Cruiserweight Championship in a fatal 4-way to be held at the Royal Rumble 2019.
The show of the cruiserweight division that airs through WWE Network celebrated this week a special episode recapitulating the best moments of the show during 2018. Commentators Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson were the protagonists of the day, presenting various highlights and combats of the cruiserweight division, focusing mainly on the superstars Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander and the current champion Buddy Murphy.

At the end of the episode, general manager Drake Maverick thanked the WWE universe for tuning in to 205 Live, and confirmed that cruiserweight champion Buddy Murphy will defend his title in a four-man bout that will take place at Royal Rumble, the event that will place on January 27, 2019 at Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona.
Maverick also announced that three qualifying bouts will be held to define Murphy’s opponents. Next week Kalisto will face Lio Rush and Akira Tozawa will fight against Drew Gulak to define the first challengers. The last challenger to the title will be the one that comes out with the victory between Cedric Alexander and Hideo Itami, in a match that will take place in two weeks.
