Is There a Problem Between Asuka and Io Shirai?

Yesterday, we confirmed that Io Shirai, one of the most important Japanese wrestlers in the world, is on her way to WWE. In fact, Stardom has already left to start his new adventure on the other side of the world.

In her new company, she will meet other wrestlers she knows well, with whom she has worked such as Asuka with whom she was partnering in the aforementioned Japanese company some years ago.

But is this something positive for both? Despite their old alliance, it seems that both do not have a good relationship. At least, they have no relation. This is what Dave Meltzer says in the recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

“For the same reason that (Asuka) wanted to leave a year ago, she (Io Shirai) has wanted to leave. It was the idea of WWE and Asuka did it well but they are not friends. They were as a team eight years ago. It’s not like they’re going to have problems or something, they’re just not friends. ”

This may seem surprising after working together but the truth is that it is not. As Meltzer comments, it was eight years ago, and since their separation, they have not returned to work together.

This does not mean that they do not have a good relationship when they meet again in their current company. We will have to see what happens when the new Japanese star arrives at the most prestigious company in the world.
