Kevin Owens wants to Face Finn Bálor at WrestleMania 35
WWE has a great opportunity with Kevin Owens. A return in pursuit of a change of attitude and perhaps accompanied by Paul Heyman would not be a bad creative way. His “I give up!” Last Monday continues to spur rumors, even tracing a reduction in weight. But giving a little to this mystery, Owens reappeared to give an interview to CBS Los Angeles. And there, he made his plans clear: he wants Finn Bálor at WrestleMania 35.
“There’s so many guys I wish I could wrestle, but if it was up to me, whatever I would do would lead to me and Finn Bálor at WrestleMania next year, because he and I came to WWE the exact same time,” Owens told me. “We didn’t know each other before we got there. We became pretty close pretty quickly when we did get to the NXT Performance Center. He’s been my best friend ever since, so I’d love to share the ring with him on that stage in WrestleMania.”
“I love wrestling him and as far as I know he feels the same way,” Owens elaborated. “I think we put on really entertaining matches that are very good. We had a match in Japan a few years ago that I still think was one of my best ones in WWE. So, I think we mesh pretty well.”
Owens refers to the match held at The Best in the East (07/04/2015) where Bálor got the NXT Championship for the first time. But of course, now we talk about the main cast. They are no longer in a brand that gave them prominence.
Today they must share focus with many talents upwards. Knowing this, “The Prize Fighter” is not overly ambitious. Ask for a simple mano a mano in “The Showcase of the Immortals”.
It should be remembered that a decade later, this is still a pending challenge for Dolph Ziggler. Although not for the Canadian who already starred with Chris Jericho in the “Show of Shows” of 2017.
The last Bálor-Owens took place in the Raw edition of June 4. Before Money in the Bank, they kept a brief angle under the red show which did not result in clear victory for either of them. Therefore, outside of NXT, the marker continues to wait for a tie-break.
