The Chase Field of the state capital of Arizona is the venue selected for next year’s edition
A few days after the great Royal Rumble event, WWE already has the place for next year’s edition. According to the Azcentral website and confirmed by WWE, Phoenix, the capital of the state of Arizona, will host the first major event of the company on January 27, 2019.
“We have an incredibly rich history and heritage of presenting WWE events in the Valley of the Sun,” said John Saboor, WWE Executive Vice President of Special Events. “In many respects, this serves as an exciting opportunity to work with longstanding and new partners in Phoenix to create four nights of memories.”
The Royal Rumble will be held at Chase Field Stadium, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team, with a capacity of 48,633 people. The Phoenix event will be the first Royal Rumble in history to be held inside a baseball stadium.
The plan of the company is to make a week full of activities with the Royal Rumble as the central point and celebrating the Raw and Smackdown Live programs, as has been done in recent years and also the celebration of the NXT Takeover event. The other events mentioned “apart from the real battle would be at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, home of the Phoenix Suns of the NBA,” said Saboor.
According to what Saboor explained, the days confirmed for that week would be:
Saturday, January 26: NXT TakeOver at the Talking Stick Resort Arena
Sunday, January 27: Royal Rumble at Chase Field
Monday, January 28: Monday Night Raw at the Talking Stick Resort Arena
Tuesday, January 29: SmackDown Live in the same location
