Tampa Bay to Host WrestleMania in Future
The city of Tampa Bay in Florida has submitted an offer to WWE to host a Wrestlemania in the future, it speaks of 2023, 2024 or 2025. The Tampa Bay Times reported Friday that the city is looking to host a future WrestleMania. They are looking to host a WrestleMania in 2023, 2024 or 2025.
WWE superstar Titus O’Neill was in Tampa Bay on Thursday night while the Tampa Bay Sports Commission was preparing to submit an official offer on May 4.
In addition to potentially housing WrestleMania 39, 40 or 41, they submitted an offer to host the Royal Rumble event in 2022 or 2023.
The executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, Rob Higgins, leads the charge to present the offer today and made the following comment about the event the night before:
“I think it’s something we’ve been taking a hard look at for quite some time,” Higgins said Thursday evening at the Sneaker Soiree, an annual celebration of bay area sports held by his group.
“Naturally, we think with the rich tradition of professional wrestling in our community, with so many (WWE stars) who live here, with how much passion there is for professional wrestling, that it makes a lot of sense to try to host the premier event in Wrestlemania.”
They will celebrate WrestleMania at the Raymond James Stadium, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play in the NFL and the South Florida Bulls play college football. The capacity of the stadium for football is 65,890.
The events of NXT, RAW and Smackdown, as well as a possible Hall of Fame, could be held at the Amelie Arena. the usual venue for WWE events when it is in the city and that has a capacity for 20 thousand people. We’ll see if Tampa Bay makes WWE go back to the Florida area in the future, although by 2023 there is still a lot of time left.
