The Original plans for Sanity and AOP at Money in the Bank

Money in the Bank will be from this edition the fifth big of the WWE PPVs, hence its five hours and ten confirmed matches (which would be added a tag team more before Sunday). The show will not feature the Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar but the company has managed to cover his absence with several interesting matches, from that Styles vs. Nakamura under the stipulation of Last Man Standing for the WWE title, going through Elias and Seth Rollins in his first face-to-face, until Rousey Rookie being tested against Nia Jax with the women title Raw in play.

And all that without mentioning the tag team match that gives the name to the event which will suppose a mix of the best that the menu of the company offers today in both divisions. However, originally, there was still another ace up his sleeve before the non-defense of “The Incarnate Beast”. Remember how a few weeks ago the rumor spread that a third¬†ladder match could take place at the evening. The rumor that pointed out that, among suggestions, it was discussed the possibility of including a Money in the Bank battle that would make exclusive use of the tag team division.

The company came to give the kickoff for the development of this innovative contest but obviously, the idea was not reflected in the screens for a long time and did not get to make a hole in the town poster of the event. But it turns out that the rumor was right, or so Bryan Alvarez pointed out in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Observer, and even several promotional vignettes were recorded that never aired on television. The reason for the change of plans is unknown but Alvarez said that the modifications left no place for the two emerging NXT teams ahead of Sunday’s show, Sanity and the Authors of Pain:

“I know there are reports that one of the AOP is having problems with the visa, which I presume is true, but the issue with them is that they were promoted and did not use them much. The same with Sanity, although these could have trademark issues or something like that.

“One of the reasons why they do not appear on television is because there was going to be a MITB of the tag team. In fact, there were going to be three: men, women and tag teams. We commented it the day after (Backlash) when they put a handful of the tag team to promote the ladder match on Raw, but it was finally discarded. “
