In the new edition of the 205 Live program, WWE announced the future of its cruiserweight division. Along with the presentation of Drake Maverick, general manager of 205 Live, it was announced the celebration of a tournament to crown the new cruiserweight champion of the company.
According to the new general manager, the tournament will have 16 fighters of the division, which will be struggling with the course of the weeks in the exclusive program of its weight. In addition to this, it was also confirmed that the end of it will take place in the WrestleMania event this April 8, 2018.
This week the tournament kicked off with two first-round fights, where Cedric Alexander was seen defeating Grand Metalik and TJP defeating Tyler Bate. It was also announced for the next week the fights of Hideo Itami vs. Roderick Strong and Kalisto vs. Golden Lynx.
The participation of Bate and Strong, recurring fighters in the territory of NXT stand out. Earlier, Bate’s presence in the show was announced, but with his defeat and the future participation of Strong, everything seems to indicate that these will only be on the occasion of the tournament and will not be full-time additions.
