What’s Happening with the 2021 Royal Rumble?
The Royal Rumble is, naturally, a highlight. The 30-strong ring-over contest has barely changed from year to year, barring a few interesting faces popping up here and there. However, following big changes to wrestling thanks to the COVID-19 crisis, it seems the WWE is having a serious rethink about next year’s PPV event.
Can we expect the same Royal Rumble chaos to occur as normal at next year’s event? Will we have any wrestling action to bet on, or will we be playing UK casino games online to fill our entertainment schedules?
What’s Going On?
It’s not new for the WWE to stay tight-lipped about its biggest PPVs. However, COVID-19 has, naturally, provided a few significant changes. By late summer, we’d typically be hearing a bit more about what’s coming up in terms of the next Royal Rumble.
However, if inside sources are worth believing, we might have to wait a little longer to see where things are heading. It’s thought WWE officials wanted to bring us news in early August.
That said, there seems to be a few matters firming up behind the scenes. No one’s really sure what’s going on, but given how unpredictable 2020 has been, we can take a few educated guesses that safety comes into the picture.
When Will We Hear More? Who’s Taking Part?
Watch this space. Details for the next year’s big PPVs come in thick and fast towards the autumn. However, staggering news about RR 2021 along will likely mean that dates may shift along a little.
Wrestling has persisted in the months since the pandemic started. It’s been strange to see the same action take place without the crowd atmosphere. However, WWE is naturally concerned with bringing back this atmosphere as safely as possible.
The same goes for the wrestlers involved. We won’t have any idea as to who is going to be on the next RR roster for some time. WWE’s superstars are, naturally, going to stay fit and healthy. How can we expect something as crowded and as chaotic as the Royal Rumble to take place in the age of social distancing?
Why is the Royal Rumble Still So Popular?
It’s been a regular staple since the early days of the WWF. Seeing the wrestling calendar without some form of RR event is likely to feel pretty strange. That’s why we’re excited to see what WWE has planned once news emerges.
The Royal Rumble is a melee, unlike any other. Wrestlemanias, over the years, have created some of the most memorable moments in the federation’s history. However, RRs are unique – how many superstars can you cram into a ring at once?
Thirty stars enter, and one leaves the victor – that’s how it works. However, for the first time in its history, the Rumble is likely going to need to keep things safer and more distant. How is this going to work?
We can’t wait to find out – and if we know the WWE, it’s going to be a night to remember.
