WWE cancels the match between Asuka and Becky Lynch for Royal Rumble 2019
A day ago we reported that SmackDown women’s champion Asuka will defend her title against Becky Lynch at WWE Royal Rumble 2019. However, it seems that the company has reversed its decision and has withdrawn the match.
The match between Lynch and Asuka seemed confirmed after an announcement during the broadcast of the weekly show on WWE Network, where the card was reviewed and the match was unveiled. In spite of that, WWE had not promoted this match nor had it confirmed officially.
The former general manager of SmackDown Live, Paige, has spoken about the situation through her personal Twitter account. Paige comments in a character that the duel between “The Man” and “The Empress of Tomorrow” was her way of programming “one last match” before leaving the position as general manager. Even so, WWE will have backed off, leaving the state of the match in the air.
Soooo I tried to make one last match before my time as #SDLive GM came to end…but unfortunately @BeckyLynchWWE vs. @WWEAsuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championship is NOT official for #RoyalRumble. #Oops
