WWE Super ShowDown Preview: February 27, 2020 by Felix Pichler
This preview for WWE’s Super ShowDown contains all officially confirmed matches, but there is no certain order in it.
“The New Day” Kofi Kingston and Big E (C.) vs. John Morrison and The Miz for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships
This is John Morrison’s first title match after his return to WWE. His first matches on SmackDown were quite impressive but then he appeared in the Royal Rumble where he got destroyed by Brock Lesnar. Other than that, it would make sense to give the titles to him and the Miz to give him an early title run after his return. Besides, they are a “new” and fresh tag team. Due to that, I think and hope that they will defeat Kofi Kingston and Big E
Prediction: John Morrison and The Miz
R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, United States Champion Andrade, Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles and Erick Rowan in the first-ever Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match
The very only reason why this match could become meaningful is because of a man who isn’t even in this fight: The Undertaker. It’s rumoured that he will face AJ Styles at WrestleMania and it’s confirmed that he’s in Saudi Arabia. Due to that, they’ll probably start the feud between him and Styles at this PPV. However, the match will be entertaining, but it won’t lead to anything for the winner (except Styles wins it to get a match against the Deadman).
Prediction: AJ Styles
Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin in a Steel Cage Match
Finally, we will get the final match of this feud. Or at least I hope so as these two men have a problem with each other for several weeks and all fans want to see the end of this storyline. However, AEW showed how interesting a Steel Cage match can be and because of that, I’m curious what we will get. Anyways, it’s clear that Roman Reigns will win it and the WWE universe hopes that this will finish the storyline.
Prediction: Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins and Murphy (C.) vs. “The Street Profits” Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins for the Raw Tag Team Championships
I was quite surprised when I saw that this match also made it on the card as Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins weren’t that central parts in the story around Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens. However, since we likely get a match at WrestleMania between these two, it would make sense to take the tag title away from Rollins and besides the Street Profits are over and Paul Heyman is a fan of them.
Prediction: “The Street Profits” Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins
Bayley (C.) vs. Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
After the match between Lacey Evans and Natalya at crown Jewel, this will be the second match between two women at a Saudi Arabia event, but the first time for a title. Since this match was usually planned for WrestleMania, I hope that now we see Sasha Banks against Bayley for the title at WWE’s greatest PPV of the year. It would be a huge surprise if Naomi picks up the win
Prediction: Bayley
Brock Lesnar (C.) (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Ricochet for the WWE Championship
The only reason for this match is to let Lesnar once more look incredibly strong ahead of his fight with Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Still, I feel sorry for Ricochet that they use him for that match.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (C.) vs. Goldberg for the Universal Championship
Even though this won’t be the best match of this event, it will likely be the most interesting one as it is hard to say who will win the match. At the end of the last SmackDown episode, the Fiend was down after one “Spear” of Goldberg and this might be a hint what we will see at WWE’s Crown Jewel.
Due to that, it is really possible that we’ll get Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania and who would have thought that a few weeks ago. Still, Goldberg did absolutely nothing to get this title shot, but he will win it anyways.
Prediction: Goldberg
Summary
The match between the Fiend and Goldberg will probably be the one which decides how the people will rate this whole event. It will be interesting to watch as Goldberg isn’t anymore able to work great matches and no-sells the moves of the opponent while Bray Wyatt can deliver a great performance, but also doesn’t sell the moves of the opponent.
On the other side, I am looking forward to the two tag team matches as I expect them to be the best fights of the PPV.
