Tyson Fury’s larger than life personality makes him a perfect fit for the world of WWE where the ability to entertain is just as important as any achievements inside the ring. The man known as the ‘Gypsy King’ made a memorable wrestling debut in October 2019 as he defeated Braun Strowman and it’s clear that there is unfinished business as far as the WWE is concerned.
However, to the majority of combat sports fans across the world, Tyson Fury should be known as a boxer, first and foremost, and he is lining up some important assignments in 2021 and possibly beyond.
McIntyre eyes Fury
One man who is desperate for Tyson Fury to return to WWE is Drew McIntyre who knows that the English fighter is going to be a big draw for wrestling fans. McIntyre is in a rich vein of form right now, having claimed the WWE Championship at RAW in November when he defeated Randy Orton and he’s got a busy period lined up. If a battle with Fury isn’t feasible just yet, McIntyre will switch his attention to Wade Barrett but the Gypsy King remains firmly in his sights.
There is added incentive for McIntyre who was born in Scotland and he’s stated that any battle with Tyson Fury would draw the biggest pay per view audience from the UK since SummerSlam 1992. Potential dates were thought to have been considered in 2020 but, like the rest of the sporting world, wrestling has been forced into a rescheduling. Now, as we move into 2021, Tyson Fury may have other priorities.
Fury v Joshua
Following a lengthy hiatus from the ring, Tyson Fury made his return to professional boxing in 2018. At the very start of the year, he had to reapply for his boxing license following a lengthy personal battle and a prolonged absence from the sport.
Happily, the return was a successful one and he ended 2018 with a memorable heavyweight title fight against Deontay Wilder. Most observers felt that the Englishman had done enough to claim the belt but, following a controversial draw and a split decision, the obvious next step was to undertake a rematch.
Fast forward to February 2020 and the follow-up fight took place with Fury forcing a stoppage in the seventh round. Wilder is anxious for a third fight to complete the trilogy but fellow Briton Anthony Joshua seems to have come to the front of the queue.

That’s a big incentive for the promoters and, with Tyson Fury set to sign off on his boxing achievements, WWE may soon get their man.
